Name:  Melissa
Where are you from? I’ve lived all over the place, but we now call Bismarck, ND home!
How long have you been with your husband? Married almost 13 years! Whoa, we’re old!
How did you and your oilfield man meet? I was working at a gas station in Dickinson, ND and he would come in and buy stuff just to see me, or at least that’s my story.  We had mutual friends and started “dating” at a party at a friend’s trailer house. Hah.
Was it love at first sight? For him, I’m sure. :)
Do you have kids? Five. He had our oldest before I met him, but I officially adopted him in 2012. He’s 16. We also have a 13-year-old girl, 9-year-old twin boys, and a foster baby girl who just turned one!
How long has your man been working in the oil industry? Over 12 years! He started a few months after we got married.
What does he do? He is a consultant. We have our own business.
Does he come home every night or is he gone for days or weeks at a time? Typically gone for 2 weeks and home for 2 weeks.
How many miles separate you when he is gone? Right now, I think it’s around 200.
Do you have a career? I’ve had many. I have job ADD. I am lucky enough to be able to stay home now though… I stay home with our foster baby, watch a friend’s boy one day a week, do the books for our business, and run three websites. Most of my evenings are spent running from dance to soccer to choir to football to basketball to volleyball…
What are your hobbies? Photography, traveling, reading, blogging, drinking mad amounts of coffee and dreaming of all the projects I’m never going to do on Pinterest.
Best thing about the oilfield life is  _________?  The money.
The worst thing about oilfield life is _________? The job insecurity, the job danger, and the fact that my husband is gone for half the year and the stress it has on him.
Do you shave your legs on a regular basis when he is gone? Hell no. Only if I’m going to workout and wear capris, which lately is NEVER.
Brag about your husband… go! He started at the very bottom as a worm and quickly worked his way up. He is damn good at what he does!
What are you most proud of in your life? Seeing how far we’ve come together and also knowing that we are raising some awesome children.
Do you have a website or blog? Only a million. Real Oilfield Wives, obviously. Also my personal blog. I am the Co-Founder of The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans and Shrinking Kitchen, too.
Anything else you care to tell us? You ladies are awesome. That is all.

Now it’s your turn! Can’t wait to read your answers!
